History
About the Firm
Fox Coffey grew out of a translation office that Roy Fox, a familiar name in Vienna’s English-language world, set up in 1988. What began as one person’s practice became a firm with a particular character, and it has kept that character ever since. We have never been a conventional translation agency. At the heart of the firm is a small in-house team of English specialists, each with their own fields, who do the work themselves rather than passing it down a chain.
For more than three decades, Austrian companies and institutions have come to us for the English they cannot afford to get wrong, and stayed because the same people were still there the next year, and the year after that. In a business now full of platforms and volume, that continuity is rarer than it used to be, and worth more.
Vienna's English specialists, for longer than most.
Fox Coffey is led today by its two managing partners, Rob Perry and Jon O’Shea. Between them they carry the fields that matter most to our clients, from finance and energy to law, business, and culture, and every piece of work that leaves the firm has one of their names behind it.

How We Work
Getting the English right when it matters, and answering for it, is not something you scale by adding volume. It depends on senior people who know the material and are willing to put their judgement on the line. That is why the firm has stayed small, and why the same people you speak to are the people who do the work.
In-House, Not Outsourced
An internal team of English specialists, not a network of subcontractors. The person who reads your text is the person responsible for it.
Certified, and Answerable
Our work is certified to ISO 17100, the international standard for translation services. Behind the certificate is the thing it stands for: a qualified second reader has seen the work before it reaches you.
